Early every New Year, I go into a deep, prayerful state and ask for a mantra for the year.
The definition of a mantra is "a statement or slogan repeated frequently.”
The word mantra comes from Sanskrit meaning "a sacred message or counsel."
I find having a personal mantra - that declaration from my heart that I repeat daily - helps ground me. My mantra gives me clarity, keeps me on track with my intentions and affirms my wellbeing. I am aware of my deepest core values of Love, Freedom and Creative Self Expression. I know these three values are a vital part of who I AM. I look within those values and ask for Divine Guidance on how to expand and enhance my experience of those values.
(Not sure what your core values are? Discover them in my book, Unlock Your Heart: Goal Setting from the Inside Out!)
My 2016 mantra has been Fearless and Free to be Only Love. Can you feel the essence of my core values within that mantra? This was a particularly challenging mantra for me since being fearless is not easy, especially with my creative self-expression. I tend to be afraid sometimes to let my creativity soar as my Inner Critic strives to be heard. My mantra helps shush it!
When I go into my early January meditation, I will take this mantra into my heart consciousness. I will ask it to expand, replenish and grow into the perfect mantra for 2017!
It may stay the same, it may be altered--I am open and receptive to whatever Spirit offers.
Try creating a mantra for your new year. It is far more powerful than New Years resolutions. Write your mantra down and repeat it daily. It is who you are at your core, your heart center. You will find it gives you deep inner strength and vision!
I would love to know your mantra. Perhaps you will share it in the comments on my website www.unlockyourheart.com.
